11 Observations From Day Two of Houston Texans Training Camp
The offense had a bad stretch but also plenty of success
The Houston Texans held their second practice of training camp on Thursday.
Here are 11 observations from the workout.
C.J. Stroud hooked up with Jayden Higgins on two passes early in practice. Higgins ran a crisp route to the sideline, and Stroud placed the ball perfectly for the second-year wide receiver. The two connected a couple of plays later. It was a hectic pocket situation as Will Anderson Jr. quickly dispatched Trent Brown, but Stroud stood tall and delivered to Higgins, who had easily won his route. It was among the best decisions and throws of the day by Stroud. It is integral that these two deepen their connection before the regular season arrives.
Stroud had a good day overall. He ripped a pass to Xavier Hutchinson with Jalen Pitre in coverage. It was placed so only Hutchinson could get it. Stroud whipped his head around to find David Montgomery out of the backfield. The veteran running back had shaken loose from his defender. There was a low, but accurate, toss to Foster Moreau. It wasn’t an easy play, and Moreau didn’t haul it in, but it wasn’t a dangerous pass like Wednesday’s interception. There was a miscommunication with Nico Collins, but that was the worst of it from Stroud.
