The Houston Texans defeated the Miami Dolphins 20-12 for their ninth win of the season. The Texans are now one victory or one loss by the Indianapolis Colts away from clinching their eighth AFC South division title.

Here are 11 observations from the win.

  1. The Houston Texans have an elite defense. It should keep them in almost any game. DeMeco Ryans has done an excellent job with that side of the ball improving on its impressive 2023 season. They take the ball away. They pressure the quarterback. Their coverage units frustrate opposing passing attacks. When they’re on, they are dominant. One of the only massive hiccups was a well-executed play by the Dolphins on fourth down to get tight end Jonnu Smith the ball for their lone touchdown. Even then, the defense had initially forced the punt before a special teams penalty made it easy for the Dolphins to attempt to convert the fourth down.
