11 Observations from the First Houston Texans OTAs Practice of 2025
Surprises on the offensive line and the rookies show flashes
The Houston Texans were on the field inside their practice bubble for one of their OTA practices. Here are 11 observations from the practice.
C.J. Stroud did not practice after warming up. DeMeco Ryans declined to address Stroud’s workload specifically, but noted there are players at different stages of their specific offseason programs. Ryans didn’t seem concerned. Stroud observed practice and had a walkie-talkie listening to Nick Caley calling the offense. Davis Mills and Kedon Slovis handled quarterback duties. Rookie Graham Mertz didn’t practice. Mills and Slovis were fine. Slovis had one play where he threaded the needle between some defenders.
Ryans said they will mix and match along the offensive line until they find the best five players. He noted that numerous players can play multiple positions.
