The Houston Texans defeated the Los Angeles Rams 17-15 to finish the preseason 3-1. Their lone loss came in a game stopped early because of weather. The next time the team takes the field for a game will be in Indinapolis against the Colts to begin the 2024 regular season.

Here are 11 observations from the game and about the current state of the roster.

  1. The preseason is over. The Texans didn’t play an enormous amount of players expected to make their roster. A few players who are in consideration for depth spots played but this game served as an opportunity for players who are likely to get cut in the coming days to showcase their abilities and put tape out there for consideration for other teams and the practice squad. This is an extremely talented team. Most of the tough cuts are coming from players likely to occupy spots deep on the depth chart. Most of the two-deep is decided. It hasn’t been this way for a long time heading into a season of football in Houston.
