The Houston Texans won their season opener 29-27 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Here are 11 observations from the win.

  1. This was a game symbolic of the DeMeco Ryans and his Texans. There were moments of intense excellence combined with some head-scratching mistakes. Houston prevailed in a tough one, in large part thanks to Ryans and his guts. Eschewing the points in the fourth quarter for a pass on fourth down was a risk that paid off. It kept the Colts at arm’s length. I didn’t love the decision, but Ryans has more intestinal fortitude than I do. It was again, the cardiac Texans.
