A Mid-Summer Guess at the Houston Texans 53-Man Roster
A way-too early look at some potential competitions
Here is a much-too-early look at a potential 53-man roster for the Houston Texans. It feels like there are a few tough decisions to make before training camp gets going next month. Things will begin to sort themselves out in July and August.
The offensive line battle for starting spots and the backup roles will be fierce. That’s the position with the most questions to answer. There is plenty of youth on defense to push veterans. Ket backup roles on offense are up for grabs. The returners are a free-for-all, so experience on special teams is useful.
Quarterbacks - 2
C.J. Stroud
Davis Mills
The Texans should keep a player on the practice squad in case one of their two quarterbacks gets hurt. I’d lean towards that player being Graham Mertz if he is recovered from his injury. If Mertz is still hurt, Kedon Slovis could steal the practice squad spot.
Running Backs - 4
Joe Mixon
