Analyzing the Offense of the Texans at the Bye Week
A look at where the offense is after the slow start
The bye week is already here for the Houston Texans. That is a stark contrast from the late bye week last season. Houston had a struggling offense, and the bye week offered no answers.
The Texans have an offense on the upswing after three horribly disappointing weeks to start the season. It feels like they have momentum on offense, but they need to make sure they harness it coming out of the bye week.
Here is a look at the offense through five games.
Quarterback
C.J. Stroud had a shaky start, but he’s played nearly perfect football for five quarters. He was just named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career. It was the first time since 2023 that he earned the honor.
Stroud looked more comfortable in the past two games. The first three games of the season were littered with missed throws and indecisiveness. Stroud said the big play to Nico Collins in the Titans game felt like a turning point. It seemingly was for the quarterback.
If Stroud were more the quarterback he’s been in the past two games, the Texans are absolutely a playoff contender. If he stays like this, the Texans will stack plenty of wins. The real challenge will be if the Texans need a Superman game from Stroud. Think back to Tampa Bay in 2023 or Indianapolis in 2024. Does he still have that ability, and how often can he access it?
Stroud has handled the issues well, and it seems that his pushback on the offense that wasn’t working at the start of the season has helped.
There’s a chance to see the best version of Stroud yet this season.
