The Houston Texans will start rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud on Sunday in New Orleans against the Saints.
When asked if Stroud would play first in the preseason finale on Sunday head coach DeMeco Ryans simply said “Yes.”
Ryans went on to say they will play “everybody” in this preseason game. The current plan according to the head coach is first team players to play “about two series” and see how it goes.
This was somewhat expected with the cancellation of joint practices earlier this week. While the total amount of reps might be lower, Ryans and other coaches have stressed the importance of performing on gameday, even in the preseason.
This means C.J. Stroud should be playing with the same offensive line he played with last week. He completed seven passes for 60 yards showcasing accuracy and some poise under pressure. It provides a chance for Stroud to finally lead a touchdown drive, though he might only get a couple of opportunities.
