Danielle Hunter Signing Takes Texans Free Agency to Another Level
The Texans started slow but have crushed free agency to this point
The Houston Texans shocked the NFL by landing defensive end Danielle Hunter on Tuesday afternoon. General manager Nick Caserio stuck to his guns early, not overpaying for players at other positions, and used a chunk of his cap space to improve the team drastically.
The contract includes $48 million guaranteed making Hunter one of the highest-paid defensive linemen in football. He’s also one of the best.
Hunter played football at Morton Ranch in the Katy, Texas area before he attended LSU and until now had played his entire career with the Vikings. He’s coming off his best season of his career where he amassed 16.5 sacks and tied for the league lead in tackles for a loss with 23. He’s had double-digits sacks in every season he’s played a full season with the exception of one.
