Day Two Draft Wrap: Texans Focus on Depth But is There 2024 Upside?

The Texans added depth but was it at the expense of 2024 impact?

Did the Texans prioritize depth over the 2024 impact? That’s the question I am left asking after the team’s selections on day two of the 2024 NFL Draft. There wasn’t much sizzle, but there could be plenty of substance down the road.

Admittedly, it would have been hard to find a starter or a player who can push a current starter in the second round. Depth is important. DeMeco Ryans talked about this offseason how many backup players they were playing in the playoff game against the Ravens.

So, if you look at the potential to impact the backend of the season, I see the vision. I don’t initially see how these picks impact the front part of the season though.
