Among receivers who amassed over 1,000 yards last season, only three were targeted less than Nico Collins in week one.
The star wide receiver of the Texans finished with three catches on five targets for 25 yards. Collins had five or fewer targets twice last season, but he left both those games after the first quarter and after he scored a touchdown.
The Texans are aware Collins needs the ball more.
“Throw it to Nico [Collins] as many times as we can, of course,” DeMeco Ryans said this week when asked about featuring the wideout. “Of course we want to get the ball to Nico. He's one of our best players.”
Ryans blamed the mishaps on the offense, which put the Texans behind schedule, as a reason Collins couldn’t consistently get the ball.
