Grading the 2024 Draft Class for the Houston Texans
Nick Caserio doesn't love this exercise but I do!
The Houston Texans have put the 2024 NFL Draft behind them and left with nine new players.
The annual exercise of grading the selections is sometimes considered worthless. Just ask Nick Caserio who pre-draft had this to say.
“We go through the weekend, we're going to have on Monday, right, or Sunday afternoon, draft grades. It's the most ridiculous concept that I've ever heard of. The players haven't even been in the building yet and we're making an assessment about their performance. It's the same thing in the off-season.” -Texans GM Nick Caserio
I feel like grading a draft with predictions on how the player will do in the upcoming season is a foolish endeavor.
I like to look at what the team needed before the draft, how they ended up with those players, and whether there were potential better options, based on my assessment of the players, available.
I also weigh the first four rounds more than the final three rounds. It is nice to have players there, but they shouldn’t make or break a draft.
