How Serious is the Injury Bug in Houston?
With 23 players on the injury report the Texans are in a crunch right now
It isn’t quite “do you want to see a dead body” but there is a strange intrigue to an injury report that looks like this.
23 players are on this injury report. 21 of them are on the active roster. 11 didn’t practice.
The situation isn’t dire, but it could end up being a rough one for the Texans. Among the injured are some key players on defense at all three levels, important skill position players, and offensive linemen on an injury-riddled blocking group.
I don’t believe Laremy Tunsil is in any danger of missing Sunday. He usually misses the Wednesday practice. Players need to practice at least twice if they have designs on playing on Sunday.
Here are the seven players that have the most effect on Sunday should they miss.
DE Will Anderson
Anderson is the best pass rusher on the Texans. I know Jonathan Greenard has been more successful, but Anderson is more disruptive. He’s an animal in the pass rush and incredible against the run. His knee injury and the level of injury is currently unknown. There isn’t a clear-cut replacement for him either. Even if someone plays the majority of his snaps, they aren’t as productive. Replacing Anderson is a pass-rush-by-committee situation.
