Injuries Mount for Texans With Short Week and Ravens in Town
Tank Dell, Jimmie Ward, and more are injured
Tank Dell is back in Houston.
DeMeco Ryans announced Sunday the injured wide receiver flew back to Houston from Kansas City. Ryans also reiterated what he said about the hurt pass catcher: Dell suffered a “significant knee injury” during the game.
Ryans said there is still a lot to figure out regarding the immediate future.
“Right now, we will still be evaluating, to see where he is,” Ryans said. “Still meeting with doctors to see what's next for him.”
While Ryans wouldn’t confirm Dell is done for the year, it’s safe to assume his season is over and he has a long road of recovery ahead.
The injury took a toll on the Texans emotionally. C.J. Stroud wept. Jared Wayne who made contact with Dell on the play where he was injured looked distraught.
Ryans said Wayne had a unique situation on the field.
“ Jared [Wayne] was in a difficult spot emotionally, as anyone would be,” he said. “It's a tough spot to be in. Football is a lot of unpredictable movements, a lot of things happen. Things happen fast. None of us can predict injuries or what's going to happen on the field. Guys play fast. Things happen all the time, right? You try to avoid things, you slow down and some things probably happen even anymore, so you just continue to play fast and just understand that it's the unfortunate part of what we do is the injury.”
Wayne looked like he was just trying to hopefully make a play. It was an unfortunate incident.
Dell and the Texans will know more in the coming days after Dell meets with more doctors.
