One Day Later: Stroud's Success Continues While DeMeco Ryans Displays Optimism
The head coach saw the good from the loss to the Falcons
C.J. Stroud’s Grade
I would give C.J. Stroud a B for this game. It was a tough day for the offense, but Atlanta has a solid pass defense, they came in with one of the best in the NFC. Stroud missed a couple of throws I am sure he wants back but when the down and distance are constantly in the defense’s favor he did well. The final throw to Dalton Shultz sure was impressive.
Stroud’s Significant Seven
1st Quarter - 4:47 - 3rd and 10 on the Houston 40 - C.J. Stroud pass incomplete intended for Devin Singletary.
This is one of the first times I feel like C.J. Stroud panicked about something that wasn’t there. Sure, there was a little pressure, but the offensive line did a nice job holding up and he wasn’t in any immediate danger. He reset his feet and made a quick decision and poor throw to Devin Singletary. This is certainly one of the plays he could have extended and tried to make a play.
1st Quarter - 00:56 - 2nd and 8 on the 50 - C.J. Stroud pass complete to Nico Collins for a gain of 25 yards.
This was excellent at the moment and exceptional watching it back. C.J. Stroud doesn’t seem to give anything away with his eyes initially and then knows exactly what Nico Collins is set to do after a Falcons defender gives Collins a shove. He starts his throwing motion before Collins even settles fully into the route and he anticipates where Collins will be perfectly. Big gain. Great job by C.J. Stroud and Collins.
