The Houston Texans started slow out of the gate but had a decent finish to the day in free agency. We will recap all the moves the team made and discuss some of the moves they didn’t make as well.

Priced Out on Running Backs

I desired a running back investment most of all from the Texans and as you read this the team is still hanging out with just Dameon Pierce as the lone running back of significance.

As the Texans chased Saquon Barkley, the middle tier of running backs came off the board. The Titans signed Tony Pollard and the Bears struck first on the day adding D’Andre Swift. Barkley’s signing was preceded by a new team for Josh Jacobs who signed with the Packers.

Multiple reports indicate the Texans went to three years and $11 million per year on Barkley but the Philidelphia Eagles were too much.

Despite starting the day with nearly $20 million less in salary cap space, the Eagles outbid the Texans for Barkley landing the veteran for just over $12.5 million per year.
