Secondary Puts on the Clamps | Training Camp Day Seven Recap
The offense had a tough day in the sky
The Houston Texans had their third consecutive padded practice on Wednesday.
Here are 11 observations from the workout.
The secondary had a lockdown day. They were all over the place. It felt like they took Tuesday’s offensive success personally. There were contributions up and down the depth chart. Even when there was time, the secondary did well. It was not easy to move the ball through the air.
The deep passing game was the toughest element for the offense. Some of the short stuff connected, but the Texans haven’t hit a big bomb against this defense. C.J. Stroud went deep looking for Nico Collins. Calen Bullock closed to help Kamari Lassiter in coverage and Bullock nearly intercepted the ball. Davis Mills missed a couple of connections down the field. Tremon Smith came over to bat a ball away intended for Jaylin Noel. The combination of this secondary and the pass rush made it tough to get vertical.
