The Panini Senior Bowl had its third and final day of practice on Thursday. The two teams will play the Senior Bowl game Saturday afternoon on the NFL Network.

Here are my observations from the practice finale.

  • This week was ruled by the defense. The offense had moments, but the defense was the story. There were standouts from all three levels of the defense. The defensive line dominated. There were pushes from the tackles inside, pass rushes off the edge, and everyone felt like they got pressure at some point. I ended up really liking the linebacker group. There are some top-tier names and some clear depth players that can help on NFL rosters. The defensive back play was tight and took advantage of any mistakes from quarterbacks or wide receivers.

  • Bud Clark (Safety, TCU) was the best safety I watched this week. He was at it again on Thursday. He was sticky when asked to cover 1-on-1. Clark flew down to the football to stop rushes and short completions. He eventually showed his nose for the football. Clark intercepted the ball 15 times in his TCU career. He added another Senior Bowl practice interception in this practice. The anticipation was excellent; he saw where the ball was likely headed and took off. The ball was in the air long enough for him to make a leaping catch. It was like watching a great centerfielder corral a ball that was knocked just outside the infield. Clark is a fun watch and could be a nice addition to any defense.
