Senior Bowl Superlatives and Final Thought from Mobile
Final thoughts on the Senior Bowl practices wrapping up
The Senior Bowl will be played tomorrow, but the week's practices have wrapped up.
Mobile was alive this week as the Senior Bowl took over like it usually does this time of year. The change to the Senior Bowl allowing juniors this year yielded some additional talent to one of the premier offseason events for draftees.
While I don’t believe top picks will ever practice for the Senior Bowl, there are plenty of players who at least made evaluators recheck the tape on them. I do wonder if it could become slightly more prominent, and thus add a handful more elite prospects, in the coming years.
There was a ton of talent at key positions at the Senior Bowl. I felt like the defensive line, cornerback, and wide receiver were the deepest and most successful. Some offensive linemen jumped off the page too and it’s kind of hard to tell exactly but there were some intriguing safety prospects too.
Texans Buzz
I talked to a handful of colleagues and new friends about the Texans while in Mobile. Most of the platitudes ranged from “What a year” to “Man wasn’t that fun” but more than a few mentioned one specific thing about the Texans.
DeMeco Ryans.
Sure, Ryans might end up being the coach of the year but I expected conversations about C.J. Stroud or Tank Dell (a Senior Bowl attendee in 2023) but time and time again DeMeco Ryans was brought up first.
