Stroud's Significant Seven Plays from the Loss to the Jaguars
Plenty to like and learn from in the most recent performance by the rookie
There were some dynamite plays from C.J. Stroud in this one and some plays where I believe he can clean some things up going forward. Overall it was a nice performance from the rookie quarterback and he was keeping the Texans in the game.
1st Quarter - 0:20 - 3rd and 15 on the Houston 14 - C.J. Stroud pass complete to Tank Dell for 62 yards is wiped away via penalty. Illegal shift.
This was a tone-setting game-changer that didn’t stand. The Texans had sputtered on offense to this point and were on their way to their third punt before C.J. Stroud uncorked this beauty. Unfortunately, Tank Dell got started just a second early before Nico Collins was set and the play wasn’t allowed to stand. It’s still a remarkable play that showcases Stroud’s mobility to give him a good passing platform and his accuracy. Sure, it was a tiny bit short, but Dell still caught it. This would have changed the complexion of the game I believe but it goes down as a loss of five yards.
2nd Quarter - 9:43 - 1st and 10 on the Houston 25 - C.J. Stroud pass complete to Robert Woods for a gain of 26 yards.
