Texans at Chiefs: Final Score Prediction and Thoughts
A battle with the AFC's best awaits the Houston Texans
The Houston Texans haven’t created a tremendous amount of belief in their ability to compete with the upper echelon of the AFC.
They can change all that today.
This is one of the best teams in all of football and their stadium is one of the toughest places to play. If a team beats the Kansas City Chiefs on the road I believe on their best day they can beat anyone, anywhere, with the exception of the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo.
The Texans declined to consider this a measuring stick game. DeMeco Ryans gave another variation of his stock answer about this game meaning no more or no less than the other games. C.J. Stroud said every gave presents a measuring stick opportunity.
Houston can indeed measure themselves though. It might not be against the Chiefs, but Ryans explained the necessity of strain and finish against a team as good as Kansas City. He can find out if his team possesses the ability to play to the level necessary to defeat one of the league’s best.
The Chiefs have won games in plenty of different ways this year, a lot of times while not playing their best. Houston did that too early in the season. When they led the league in passing they couldn’t run the ball. Joe Mixon returned, they couldn’t throw without Nico Collins. A truly complete game has escaped both of these teams, but Houston could use a signal that their full potential hasn’t been tapped into just yet.
What better time than now, on the road against the defending champions, to really find out about your team?
Score Prediction
The Texans will win 19-17. I don’t believe in the offense of the Texans but I don’t have to if the defense plays lights out. They were excellent against the Miami Dolphins last week, but this is a tougher task. It feels like they are up to it and with the challenges for the Kansas City Chiefs (Patrick Mahomes and his ankle and the poor tackle play) the Texans have an edge to exploit. It will start with the defensive line but this secondary will need to be excellent again. Offensively they must run the football better and hope C.J. Stroud is making quick and sound decisions. It could be one of the defining wins for DeMeco Ryans and his team.

With Mahomes nursing a bum wheel, I think we can win this one. My gut says that this turns into an absolute dog fight where yards and points are hard to come by. I hope y'all took the under, and I hope Ka'imi is locked in because this may very well come down to which kicker blinks first.
My gut also tells me that when we meet again in the Divisional, Kansas City gets revenge, and it won't be pretty.
texans 24-20. 3 seed incoming.
