Texans at Titans: Final Thoughts and Score Prediction
The Texans have a tall and tough task against the Titans
The Houston Texans have no easy task today. They are starting a backup quarterback behind another shuffled offensive line configuration against a team that is one of the best sack teams in football, and their playmakers are hurt.
Yikes.
This is where coaches, like DeMeco Ryans on defense and Bobby Slowik on offense, earn their money. Slowik has a tougher task. Case Keenum has started twice in three seasons and will start against the Titans. He has no Tank Dell. No Nico Collins. The rushing attack can’t be trusted.
Nine years ago Bill O’Brien beckoned Keenum from his deer blind to help keep the slim playoff hopes of the Texan alive. It isn’t quite the same, but DeMeco Ryans is turning to Keenum in a similar situation.
Ideally, Slowik has implemented some of the offense he watched decimate the Texans last week. Easy reads. Quick passes. Safe offense for Keenum to matriculate the Texans down the field. Hopefully, Slowik has rigged a way to run the ball at least a little bit better than pretty much this entire season.
For Ryans, he’s shorthanded too. Will Anderson is the best complete defensive end for this team and he’s down for this game. Blake Cashman will miss too and he’s been the most consistent linebacker.
A week ago one of the worst offenses in football lit the Texans up. Ryans has to have his players better prepared against a more talented opponent than last week. Derrick Henry has dominated the Texans, he can’t do that again. Lesser quarterbacks than Will Levis have had big days against Houston. It would spell doom for the Texans if that happened.
The NFL is full of teams who have their backs against the wall and fight back ferociously and upset a team. The Texans must be the latest.
Score Prediction
I believe the Texans will lose 24-13. I don’t trust the defense to keep the Titans off the scoreboard and I don’t see how Houston moves the ball. The Texans would need some big mistakes from the Titans to stick around in this, which isn’t that big of an ask based on some of the games Tennessee has played. It just doesn’t seem like a spot a Mike Vrabel team would lose. A loss would mean the Texans need to be almost perfect down the stretch to make the playoffs. They also, obviously, would need C.J. Stroud back as well.

Was Jets game last week aberration or forbearer of future results? Think we’ll know answer to that question today? Somehow, someway Texans & DeMeco Ryans pull off the upset 17-15 🤘
I’m not understanding how we are in this place when just a week ago I felt like we could win out. I also don’t understand why the team is bypassing on Mills. I am hoping to be surprised but my prediction is 24-7, Titans.
