The Houston Texans are 8-5 and winners of five straight after their 20-10 win against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here are 11 observations from the win on Sunday Night Football.

  1. The Houston Texans earned one of their best wins of the season with this one. It is also one of the best wins under DeMeco Ryans. It’s one of the best road victories in his tenure as the head coach of this team. Kansas City was desperate and needed this win, but the Texans found a way to secure their fifth straight victory. Ryans and his team are rolling right now, propped up by a ferocious defense. They’re firmly in the hunt for not only a playoff spot but also a chance at the AFC South.

  2. This defense played almost lights out. Sure, the Chiefs put 10 points up in the third quarter, but it easily could’ve been more if not for some stellar stops. In the fourth quarter, the Texans were terrorizing Patrick Mahomes. He didn’t complete a pass until his final, meaningless drive. They got a couple of huge stops on fourth down, one giving the offense a short field to work with. An interception gave them another short field. It was an impressive day for the league’s best defense. They have a Super Bowl-caliber defense.
