Texans Draft Preview: Running Back

Taking a look at the ball carriers ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft

The Houston Texans need help at running back. Joe Mixon is the clear starter after his addition via trade this offseason. Dameon Pierce will have to bounce back from 2023 to help the Texans and the team can’t plan on him being a factor and worthy backup. This leads us to the draft.

This draft class lacks top-end talent. There will be no selections in the first round. There is no consensus top running back. They could start coming off the board in the early part of the second round or the latter part of the round. There are still useful players in the draft.

Here are three running backs in three different sections of the draft I would be interested in the Texans drafting. The three backs fall into the top of the position, middle of the pack, and late-round potential.
