Texans With Chance to Quell Early Season Concerns on Offense
A score prediction for Monday Night Football
DeMeco Ryans defended his new offensive coordinator. Quarterback C.J. Stroud came to Nick Caley’s defense after last week. The job for Caley, where he’s tasked with fixing one of 2024’s most disappointing offenses, was already hard enough. The Houston Texans didn’t need to make it tougher.
That’s what happened on the road in week one for the Texans. They made an already difficult task even more challenging. Penalties, missed protections, and negative plays put what was supposed to be a new offense in a familiar light. It didn’t look much better than the last season.
There was a focus this week on changing that.
“We go back and we fix what we need to fix, come out and do the things that we can control,” head coach DeMeco Ryans said. “That's the main emphasis for this week.”
Ryans drilled down on pre-snap penalties. The team had seven penalties pre-snap in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams. That was a mental element the Texans didn’t execute last week.
