The Texans Could Get a Big Boost if Bobby Slowik Clearly Saved His Job
The finish to the season would be much sweeter with a better offense
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is not guaranteed to be in charge of the offense for the Houston Texans next season. The lack of significant improvement from the offense in 2024 should put Slowik in jeopardy.
But he has every opportunity to save himself.
After their bye week, the Texans enter a four-game stretch to finish their season. Slowik said the team's self-evaluation revealed how good they were when they executed and the stark contrast when they often didn’t.
“There was a – particularly in the middle of the season, there was a difference and no one holds themselves to a higher standard than ourselves here on offense,” Slowik said. “We’ve done a great job the last two weeks of really honing in on that standard and putting that out there more consistently and more often.”
The Texans have slowly dialed in for over a month now. Slowik mentioned he’s seen improvement in practice over the past four weeks of work and finally saw the fruits of their labor in the previous two games.
Jacksonville did look better, though not great. The offense got going in the second half and did enough to fend off the Jaguars. Some of the hallmarks of 2023’s success were present.
