The Texans Shouldn't Shuffle the Offensive Line Anytime Soon
The move to left guard for Tytus Howard should last
The Houston Texans need to start the same offensive line from the Miami Dolphins game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Don’t make one change.
Tytus Howard’s shift to left guard for the third time in his career and Blake Fisher’s insertion at right tackle yielded mixed results. The offensive line had some solid moments pass blocking but they got nothing going on the ground.
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik seemed pleased with his left guard.
“I thought Tytus [Howard] did a heck of a job with what was a tough situation last week, asking him to bump inside,” Slowik said. “I thought he played a heck of a game on the inside. He had one or two things here and there that is just a little different when you go from tackle to guard, how fast it is on the inside, how quick things happen. He adjusted within like six snaps, and he was rolling. He played really well which was really cool to see, credit to him.”
It wasn’t an amazing performance but it should improve with the chance to grow as a unit.
Kenyon Green is healthy and back on the active roster, but he shouldn't be handed his starting job back. Let Howard continue to man his new-old position. Don’t bench Howard for Scruggs either. The center-turned-guard was fine but Scruggs wasn’t amazing enough that he needs to be reinserted when healthy either.
