The Texans Will Only Go as Far as the Offense Takes Them in 2025
The impending return of C.J. Stroud hopefully means a new level of offense
The Houston Texans have a defense worthy of a Super Bowl appearance.
Houston’s defense isn’t sniffing San Francisco, or the playoffs for that matter, without the offense playing better.
The Texans are 6-5 with a winning record for the first time this season. The team is coming off one of the best defensive performances in franchise history. They’re also coming off a typical offensive showing.
Defense has created an excellent floor for this team. The ceiling is high, but only as high as a defense can take it. Offense can raise the ceiling, but it can also destroy that solid floor.
When DeMeco Ryans walked off the field after his Texans lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in January, he knew a difficult decision was in front of him. The offense had squandered too much. Another excellent defensive performance wasted with offensive ineptitude.
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik was shown the door. Offensive coordinator Nick Caley is basically in the same spot today that Slowik was in before his firing.
There has to be more on offense.
