The Houston Texans really get into the exciting part of training camp with joint practices and the last two preseason games over the next week plus.
Let’s take a look at seven players who have impressed or disappointed to this point.
RB Dare Ogunbowale
I felt like Dare Ogunbowale was set to be the third back for this team, but I don’t feel that way anymore. The running back has had a mistake or two, but mostly fellow veteran Mike Boone has outplayed him to this point. There is still room on the roster for him if the team keeps four running backs, but the roster numbers are getting tighter and tighter. There is still time for him to bounce back.
CB Steven Nelson
Steven Nelson has been extremely impressive in training camp. He has spent days as the best cornerback in camp and is regularly a tough defender for the pass catchers. While this was certainly possible, it was unexpected considering the issues it seemed Nelson had with the team heading into camp. The new money on his contract seemed to fix those issues, and Nelson has been the consummate professional in training camp. He’s also played really well.
