Waiting on a Bobby Slowik Decision Could Cost the Texans
If the Texans are making a change don't wait
The Houston Texans haven’t fired offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. If they wait much longer, it could cost them.
The coaching carousel is spinning, especially with offensive coordinators, and waiting isn’t in the best interest of the Texans.
Houston has competition if they’re looking to replace their offensive coordinator.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator job feels like a kingmaker spot. The past two offensive coordinators have been one-and-done and moved on to head coaching jobs. Dave Canales is the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Liam Coen is headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is one of the top offensive jobs on the market.
The other job is with the Detroit Lions. Ben Johnson has been a head coach target for years and his departure to the Chicago Bears opened up a fantastic opportunity to take over the offense in Detroit. The entire offense is talented and not lacking in many spots.
Other jobs are available though they might not be as attractive as the job in Houston. The Seattle Seahawks have already interviewed multiple people for their job, though you’d have a hard time selling me that’s better than Houston. The New York Jets have an opening. The San Francisco 49ers are looking for an offensive coordinator, though you wouldn’t call plays there.
