Cody, I appreciate your concern regarding the O-Line.........Keep your finger off of that button!!!!!!

These guys are still NFL quality players and will, if you trust the coaching staff, play above their individual skill level out of pride....None of them want to be embarassed during "film Monday" for being the one who got CJ crushed or forced into his first INT!!!

There is tons of film on TJ as well as Highsmith. Good players usually have a "favorite" technique they use to shed blockers....and often it exposes their ribcage. I realize I keep saying find a spot in their ribs and keep hitting it.....but if it works......it works.

If a boxer keeps hitting his opponent in the same spot over and over in his ribs the dude is gonna try and protect it and drop his hands....When he does.

KNOCK HIM OUT!!!

If CJ is trying to protect his ribs...he is not staying focussed on his rush...Same with Highsmith....Think Rocky..."Don't let him breath!!"

I trust the coaching staff to tell our RBs....."Don't let him breath!!!".

KEEPING THE FAITH!!!

GO TEXANS!!!

For some reason I have a Traffic tune stuck in my head. The operative line is "you doing alright? I'm not feeling too good myself." Maybe it has something to do with this. Maybe it doesn't. I suppose my thought process is that one of three things are happening. Either this is just really bad luck that can't be prevented. It could also be related to how they are doing the work. Does the practice regimen create injuries? The final possibility is just too many injury prone guys. That would obviously go beyond just the offensive line.

On one level you just muddle through as best you can. This coaching staff seems to be doing that and they deserve to be commended for it. However, at a certain point you are just treading water. So, this entire organization needs some introspection. Is this something that can be prevented through a different practice regiment, better scouting, or are you simply left to pray to Durga that players stay healthy? I find it hard to believe that this is just blind luck. Something is going on.

Scott....I may be crazy....but as a "Glass half full" kinda guy I see being put into the position to have to use your backups this early in the season....and possibly being 2-2 if the stars align on Sunday.....we will have a GREAT bench at O-Line for later in the season if needed.

I'd much rather get bit by the injury bug now...than later. We are 1-1 right now in the South and don't face another Division game until later in the season. Giving our "big boys" some time off early means they will be fresher and won't be as beat up later.....HOPEFULLY.

The less they play early the less nicked up they are when our AFC South games are played and we will need them the most.

Glass half full Brother!!!!......And as Monte Python says......"Always look at the bright side of life........Te dump........te dump te dump te dump!!".

Get that one stuck in there instead!!!!!....LOL

Sure, there are plenty of reasons for optimism. I used to Coach high school volleyball. Obviously it’s not the same thing but coaching is coaching. It is possible to do a good job overcoming injuries but also have a systemic problem somewhere that might contribute to those injuries happening in the first place.

It doesn’t always have to be about putting a coach or GM on the hot seat. Sometimes it can just about self-scouting to make yourself better. My suspicion is that we have a few injury prone guys that’s skewing the totals here. One or two is a fluke. Three or more is a trend. They need to self scout and constantly evaluate their processes. Does the practice regiment need to be tweaked? Do they need to change scouting approaches to account for injury histories more? It’s a large organization but with all those people comes opportunity to multi-task. DeMeco and the coaches concentrate on Sunday. Nick and the scouts/analytics folks can tackle some of the larger systemic issues.

Think of it this way. If they manage to go 2-2 with this offensive line and those missing defenders then what would they do if they were closer to full health.

Almost everything you said I agree with. However, I think a reversal on one of your points is more likely to be our situation...... One or two is a trend. Three or more is a fluke. That sounds more like what we have encountered.....A fluke

Personally I felt we drafted Juice and Patterson to replace Quiz and Green right from the start. I think both would have been worked in as starters by game 4 or 5.....Quiz got hurt so that happened almost immediately at center. Once KG got hurt I expected Patterson to be used at LG with Juice at center...But, when Juice went down with a hammy we had to move Patterson to center.....Nick then had to go out and get the new and improved KG....and he is filling in quite well at LG.....Patterson is doing the same for Juice at center....The question is, when Juice gets back....what happens then?? It's going to be interesting to see. However it turns out we will have some pretty good depth at center and guard.

As for the "bookends"....A broken or injured hand isn't "injury prone"....it's just a bad happen stance and unfortunately happened to one of our starters as well as his backup.

The only one of our guys I would even consider to be "injury prone", that is still a starter, is LT. He is definately a stud...but he has also been playing as a starter in the NFL a long time and one can't expect a BIG man like him to take a beating for 17 games...year after year.... without putting some strain on his knees and having some intermittent down time to recover. Fant and Jones were good alternates we signed to step up when needed.....But when Jones went down Nick had to scramble for a quick fix. Again, once the starters get back we are gonna have some pretty good depth at tackle.

There is no doubt that DeMeco, as an old school player has had some pretty tough practices...but Will A said he felt Alabama's practice was tougher???

Most all of our injuries have been "trauma" injuries with the exception of a couple which I consider "conditioning" problems such as Hammy pulls. One of my biggest complaints right now with regard to conditioning is that players today are looking for "cut' bodies....and not flexibility.......Big "pretty" muscles are not flexible....Maybe they should work in a little yogo with the weights????

We are getting close to having our starters back and hopefully they can be worked back into the lineup. When that happens I expect our offense to LIGHT UP the NFL!!!! When DP and DS have creases to get through and CJ has a little bit cleaner pocket to hit our quick route running monsters......LOOK OUT!!!

So far I think Nick and his staff have done a pretty good job, with the exception of Kenyon Green, when it comes to the draft......As for the FA choices I think they have done quite well overall when it comes to managing the pocket book and finding good young players that are plug and play.

We absolutely have had an inordinate number of injuries early but I think Nick and his staff have done a pretty good job of plugging the leaks in the dam as they appear.

Like I said....I am a glass half full kinda guy and tend to have that positive little Monte Python ditty playing in my head pretty much every day.....LMAO.

Stay positive...everything will be fine!!!.........It's the Era of Good Vibes!!!!!

KEEPING THE FAITH!!!

GO TEXANS!!!!

It’s a case by case basis and it’s something Nick and the boys spend time on. DeMeco and Bobby just coach the guys they have. It’s just so bizarre that you have to think something is wrong.

For the record, I think the tackles are flukes. Green was definitely injury prone and not being professional. Quessenberry is also a fluke which leaves Scruggs. He had some injuries in college so this might be another scouting issue. Maybe not as I’m not seeped in his injury history.

Again, this could be a systemic issue connected to how they scout guys and gather information. The best ability is availability. So, we can both give DeMeco and the coaches credit and get better on the back end.

I saw today's injury report and fact is seeing pitre full practice made me so happy I basically went owell whoever plays tackle plays tackle.

Only non texans game I've watched this season I saw the steelers defence go absolutely insane so it does worry me.

Texans can definitely win but this game is a real test to see how we go with an elite defence. Knowing our defence needs to do everything they can to help out our offence as they have a much easier task.

The defence cannot go without forcing the negative plays in this 1, and team has to start playing from kick off.
