It is finally here. The offseason always feels longer when undeniable excitement about the team and the upcoming season is present.
Wait no more.
The most anticipated season of Houston Texans football since the inaugural season is here. C.J. Stroud and his menagerie of weapons are chomping at the bit to display their explosiveness. A healthy and nasty defense is poised to unleash hell weekly.
The Texans have the making of a Super Bowl contender on paper, but once the first kickoff happens use that paper as a coaster. It is useless.
Eight months ago a hobbled Texans team played a hobbled Colts team and squeezed out a victory. Both teams are much healthier, and thus more talented, than last time. The Colts didn’t make a ton of additions outside of the draft. The Texans added tons of star power.
Both have designs on the AFC South crown.
DeMeco Ryans and Shane Steichen will be matched for years to come. So will Stroud and Anthony Richardson. The Colts seem furious with the way the Texans viewed the matchups last season and how Houston ended their season. The Texans are focused on their season, downplaying the budding rivalry.
Divisional games could decide the final order of the AFC South like last year.
It’s an early test for a Texans team with high aspirations. The Texans had trouble handling winning last year but figured it out. As the head coach who righted the ship last year, Ryans deserves the trust to have the team ready to handle the success of last year and build to where the Texans have never gone before.
Score Prediction
The Texans will win 27-16. I don’t believe the Colts will consistently move the ball through the air. Indianapolis will have success on the runs, but the Texans keep the Colts out of the end zone. The Texans were 8-1 when scoring 21 or more points. Five scores will be more than enough. Houston’s late lead is held onto by turning to Joe Mixon and the offensive line to grind out the Colts.
Thank you for your support. I am excited for this season and to cover this team for you. It is going to be fun. Have a wonderful Sunday of week one!
We are finally here. You have consistently provided excellent content throughout the off-season, draft, training camp and pre-season. Win, lose, or draw- I look forward to your thoughts and more excellent content throughout the season. Best $7 I’ve spent. Go Texans!
Just like everyone else, I’ve been looking forward to the start of the season. Today the Texans start their march towards the playoffs and I hope they start by making a statement on the road against the Colts.
